We’re pretty diffuser crazy around here, y’all. And while with essential oils themselves quality is SUPER important and I will only purchase my oils from Young Living, I’m not quite as picky about diffusers. I have several Young Living diffusers and I love them, but I also have non-YL diffusers that are good too. So today I wanted to do a diffuser review and share with you six of my favorite diffusers.

1. Young Living Rainstone diffuser
Features: Can run for 1, 2, 3, 6, or 8 hours continuously. Has various light settings (blue, purple, yellow, alternating, or off) and a negative ionizer. Comes with a small cup for adding water, remote control, and cleaning brush; if purchased separate from a starter kit it also comes with 5ml of peppermint and tangerine.
Where I use it: Our main living area (on the counter that separates our kitchen and living room)
What I like: The Rainstone looks more elegant than other plastic diffusers. It runs for much longer than my other Young Living diffusers so I don’t have to fill it up again during the day. This would also be a perfect one to use in a bedroom at night. It puts out a really good amount of mist.
What I don’t like: It has a remote control, which helps the design look more sleek since there are no buttons on the diffuser, but if you happen to lose the remote then you can no longer use the diffuser. It is made out of stone and is more fragile than my plastic ones (which worries me a little with small children around). The hole on the top is a little bit small so you have to be careful to make sure you get the water right in there.

2. Young Living Dewdrop diffuser
Features: Runs for 4 hours continuously. Choose between a blue-ish light or no light at all. If purchased separate from a starter kit it also comes with 5ml of peppermint and tangerine.
Where I use it: In our living room.
What I like: The plastic makes it very sturdy. We’ve knocked it over several times, Hudson helps me fill it and turn it on every day, and it has stood up well to that. Pretty design that blends in with most decor. Large water reservoir that is very easy to fill. The four hour run time is perfect for me to start it in the morning and it runs until nap, then start it again after we get up from nap and it goes until about the kids’ bedtime.
What I don’t like: It usually requires two hands for me to get the lid off, and since I’m often holding a baby that can be a bit of a hassle.

3. Young Living Home diffuser
Features: Runs for roughly 3 hours continuously or 6 hours intermittently (30 seconds on, 30 second off). Has a light that can be turned on or off. If purchased separate from a starter kit it will come with 5ml bottles of tangerine and peppermint
Where I use it: For a really long time this was the diffuser I used in our main living area but when I got my Rainstone this became a “floater”. Right now it’s currently in our guest room where I have an area set up for me to make videos and do conference calls with my team.
What I like: Very easy to use (I can lift the lid off with one hand, fill it, add oil, replace the lid, and turn it on while holding a baby). Runs longer than the Dewdrop if you use the intermittent setting. It runs until the water runs out (unlike the Dewdrop that runs a specified length of time whether or not there is still water left).
What I don’t like: It is the loudest of all my diffusers (not that it’s really all that loud, the motor is just louder than the others) and so I never use the intermittent setting because I can hear it turn off and then on every 30 seconds and it bugs me.

4. Jasmine diffuser
Features: According to the description it diffuses for 8 hours on continuous setting or 21 hours on intermittent (10 minutes on, 20 minutes off). I feel like mine actually goes longer on the continuous setting but I’ve never timed it.
Where I use it: Our bedroom
What I like: This diffuser has been a trooper! I’ve had it 3 years and it’s still going strong. This was the first diffuser I bought after I got my original Young Living one in my starter kit and I got it specifically to use in our bedroom since it had such a long run time.
What I don’t like: It’s a pretty small reservoir with a long run time so it doesn’t have a strong output compared to many of the others. It’s harder to clean than my others too (that could be because it’s my oldest one so it’s gunkier than the others).

5. URPOWER 100ml diffuser
Features: The description says it runs for 3 hours continuously or 6 hours intermittently but I’m pretty sure mine runs quite a bit longer than that. Has a bunch of different light settings. Comes with a handy little cup to use to fill it up.
Where I use it: Our bedroom (yes, we have two diffusers in there, one for each nightstand) and for traveling
What I like: The cost! At $20 (or sometimes less if on sale) I don’t worry about wasting a bunch of money if I break it and it’s also great for using as incentives, gifts, hostess rewards, etc. for my team. It’s my favorite for travel because of it’s inexpensive cost and small size. It puts out a good amount of mist and it runs all night so perfect for the bedroom.
What I don’t like: The light function. They are REALLY bright and you have to cycle through all of them to turn the light off, which is annoying. Also the buttons to turn it on or change the light or mist settings are really loud and I’m always afraid I’ll wake up the kids (because I inevitably forget to fill it up and turn it on until after they’re asleep). You have to twist hard to get the lid off and it requires both hands.

6. AromaLife 300ml diffuser
Features: Can run for 2 hours, 4 hours, a continuous mist until it runs out (which I think is about 6 hours), or an intermittent mist that goes even long but I’m not sure how long (see my note below about the terrible directions)
Where I use it: Hudson’s bedroom
What I like: The cost: at the time of this writing it is $20, the highest I’ve seen it is $30 and I actually paid only $10 because I had a discount code. It holds a lot of water and has a good output.
What I don’t like: The translated directions for this one are terrible. I could not figure out what all the buttons meant and how they worked via the directions, I just had to mess around with it for several nights until I figured it out. Also the same as with the URPOWER it has the super bright lights that you have to cycle through to turn them off and they very loud beeping.
Cost: $20 on Amazon
