Must Have Young Living Products for Babies

I started using Young Living essential oils 6 days before my oldest baby was born so he, and my other two subsequent babies, have been oily since birth.  I get asked pretty frequently by pregnant moms what Young Living products they should make sure to buy before their little ones arrive so here’s my list of must have Young Living products for babies.

Essential Oils

  • TummyGize – This is definitely in my top 5.  Trust me when I say you want to have this on hand!  It has been a lifesaver when my babies have had tummy issues!  Gas pains?  TummyGize.  Baby hasn’t pooped in a few days?  TummyGize.  It’s a must.
  • Gentle Baby – Gentle Baby smells so good and is so soothing!  If you have a baby that cries a lot in the evening (or really any time) this one is so handy to have!  It’s such a great one for settling them down!  This was one of the first products I ordered after my Premium Starter Kit.
  • SniffleEase – I hope you don’t need this one but if your baby gets a little sniffly this is a great one to have on hand.
  • Seedlings Calm – This is a newer oil and part of Young Living’s baby line (called the Seedlings collection).  This oil didn’t come out until my third baby was already 9 months old or so, so I haven’t used this with my newborns.  However, it smells so nice and is another good, calming oil like Gentle Baby.
  • Copaiba – You probably won’t need this one when your baby is a newborn so it’s lower down on my list of “must buy before baby arrives” but it’s a good one to go ahead and have on hand for when they’re a few months old and start teething.
  • Purification – Babies are stinky.  Sorry, they just are.  Purification is a great oil to help get rid of the smells.  We cloth diaper so I diffuse this in the bathroom where we store the cloth diapers.  I know of lots of moms who use it in their diaper pails – mixed with some baking soda and sprinkled on the bottom, or put a few drops on a cotton pad and tape it to the lid of the pail.

Just so you know, when I joined Young Living the KidScents line (TummyGize and SniffleEase) and baby line (Seedlings Calm) were not around.  While it’s nice to have these kid-specific, pre-diluted oils on hand, it’s definitely not necessary either.  I 100% used the oils that I had on hand. which at first was mostly just the oils in the starter kit.  For my oldest, for example, I used diluted DiGize on his stomach because TummyGize didn’t exist yet.  I feel incredibly comfortable using Young Living essential oils on and around my babies.  Just an FYI!

Baby Products

A few years ago Young Living came out with the Seedlings line for babies.  All of these products are infused with the Seedlings Calm oil blend that has been specially formulated for use with babies.  These products are fantastic!

  • Seedlings Diaper Cream – This cream is so good for battling diaper rash!  (note for those who use cloth diapers – the Seedlings Diaper Cream is cloth diaper safe; it may cause a little bit of staining but should not cause any repeling issues)
  • Tender Tush – Tender Tush is an ointment that Young Living had before the Seedlings Diaper Cream was created.  I LOVE the smell of this one, it smells amazing!  While I prefer the Seedlings Diaper Cream for rashes, Tender Tush is a great one if you’re one of those people who likes to put some sort of ointment on your baby at every diaper change.  And it’ll make them smell delish. (Tender Tush is totally cloth diaper safe, by the way)
  • Seedlings Baby Wash & Shampoo – Please please PLEASE ditch those popular drugstore baby soaps, lotions, etc.  They are full of junk and are the last thing we need to be slathering on our babies’ delicate skin!  The Seedlings smells so good and is all natural. A great option!
  • Seedlings Lotion – Same with the lotion: so much better than the mainstream lotions!  And it smells wonderful.
  • Seedlings Baby Oil – I’ve never been one to use baby oil on my babies (which, most of it is totally yuck anyway so I’m glad I’ve never wanted to!) but I do love the Seedlings Baby Oil for getting rid of cradle cap.  You may also love using it for an infant massage.
  • Animal Scents Ointment – This sounds so random because yes, this was formulated for animals, but it’s amazing for everyone’s skin!  This is one that I’ve used as diaper cream, for extra dry skin, and even as nipple ointment during the early days of breastfeeding.

Pro Tip: There is a bundle you can buy that has all the Seedlings products, plus a cute basket, towel, and washcloth.  It’s a great gift for a baby shower!

Healthy Home

In addition to products you’ll use on your new baby, also think about the products you’ll be using around the house as you care for baby.

  • Diffuser – You’ll want a diffuser for your nursery (or, if you’re like me and your kids sleep with you for the first year of their lives at least, then for your room).  I love the new Feather the Owl diffuser because it’s a night light and white noise machine in addition to being a diffuser.
  • Thieves Household Cleaner – This is actually the whole reason I got started with essential oils.  I was cleaning my bathroom while I was pregnant with my old grocery store cleaner and the fumes got so strong that I had to step out of the bathroom to take a deep breath of air.  That moment it struck me “How on earth am I supposed to clean my house while a baby is laying right there breathing this in?!  That would be terrible for his lungs!” and so that set me on a quest to find a safe, natural cleaner.  Thankfully I found Young Living and their Thieves Household Cleaner, which has been amazing for cleaning everything!
  • Thieves hand sanitizer – Grab a bottle or twelve of Thieves Hand Sanitizer for your house, diaper bag, purse, the hospital room, etc. so that everyone has clean hands around baby. There’s a large bottle with a pump as well as smaller options that are great for on the go.
  • Thieves Hand Soap – Same with the Thieves Hand Soap – keep those hands clean!  Toss out your fragranced hand soap that’s full of harsh chemicals and switch to Thieves Hand Soap (or if you’re a DIYer you can make your own – recipe here)
  • Thieves Laundry Soap – This is great for washing all those itty bitty adorable baby clothes!  And doesn’t contain the toxic ingredients that the popular baby laundry detergents have.

Gentle Babies book

This is not a Young Living product, but it’ll help you know how to use your Young Living products with your babies – definitely grab a copy of the book Gentle Babies!  It’s one of my most used oily reference books.

Not a Member?

If you are not a Young Living Essential Oil member yet, let’s talk!  There are several ways we can get you started – I can help you custom design a kit to include some or all of these products listed here.  Or you can get started with one of our popular starter kits.  The Premium Starter Kit that comes with 12 oils, a diffuser, and other goodies is how I got started 6 days before my first baby was born.  It has a ton of helpful products like Thieves oil blend (diffuse this to keep the air in your house clean), Stress Away (a must for you as a new mommy), lavender (wonderful to add to epsom salts and put in the bath for your or baby), Thieves Hand Purifier, and my all time favorite, Valor (that keeps me calm and grounded).
