We’ve been using this Thankful Thoughts: Gratitude Journal for Kids with the boys for a couple of months and I wanted to do a little review for you!

I think gratitude journals are such a great way to help us focus on looking for the good and I was really excited to try this one that’s specifically for kids! We have added this into the kids’ nightly routine – we either do this during supper or right before they go to bed.
Each day asks the child something they are grateful for, the high point of their day, the low point of their day, and then one other questions (this last question changes each day).
I believe it was created for a child to journal their own answers but since my kids can’t write yet Michael or I ask them the questions verbally and record their answers. The lines are plenty big enough for us to write down both Hudson and Parker’s answers.
It’s so fun (and funny!) to hear what they say. Hudson (5) understands the questions most of the time; Parker (3) doesn’t quite get it yet so his answers are often a little off the wall. Three years old is a little young for this journal but he wants to do whatever big brother does and I know I’ll look back and laugh at his funny answers later! Five years old is a great age to do this with though!
Not only is this a great way for the kids to work on being thankful, reflecting on what happened during the day (both good and bad) but it’s also something that I know I’m going to treasure and enjoy looking back on years from now!
