What’s up with the Kings? | June 2019 family update

Our June 2019 family update!  This month was the busiest month we’ve had since way before Everly was born!  We had something (church event, trip, oil event, etc.) every single day of June.  If you know me, I’m a total homebody who would prefer to stay home in jammies and not put on makeup or leave the house most days so this was an exhausting month to have to do that every day!  Anyway, on to the photo dump update.

Scrunchy nosed sweetie
Everly went to the nursery class at church for the first time this month.  She did great and loves it in there so far!
This girl loves her pacis!  We keep several in our bed so that I can just pop one in her mouth if she loses one in the night (those crazy things fall out of the crib and bounce and roll and hide…who on earth wants to be searching for that all over the bedroom when they’re half asleep? there has to be a better solution).  Anyway, a lot of mornings she’ll end up with two or three (one in her mouth and one for each hand).
Hudson made a mask out of his tortilla
We did a fair amount of shopping this month for homeschool things, church camp supplies, stuff for upcoming trips, etc.  Taking the kids out shopping is NOT my idea of a fun time, but we’re getting better at it.  One trick I started doing was when they asked for a toy they saw I told them that we’d take a picture of it and they could add it to their Christmas lists.  That really cut down on them asking for toys and crying about not getting them…but then I ended up with a million pictures on my phone.  That’s definitely better than the fussing though.
We’re in the process of moving most of their toys upstairs to a play area so that I can reclaim the old playroom back into our dining room (and make it a school room for the upcoming year).  It’s still in progress but it’s been a good move so far!
We also got a new rug!  Back when we all got the flu our poor rug got vomited on, pooped on, and all sorts of nasty stuff.  We rented a shampooer and cleaned it, but then this month it got vomited on again and I’ll spare you the details but banana vomit is NOT easy to clean.  #justsaying

We decided it was time for the old rug to go.  It was matted and was a horrible collector of hair and dirt due to it’s shag length and we’d been wanting a new one for a while anyway so the vomit was just the final straw.  I spent forever looking for a rug and finally decided on this one from Wayfair.  I love how it looks!
I hosted a Masks & Mashed Potatoes Bar (DIY charcoal mask bar and mashed potato bar with lots of toppings) and we had a blast making charcoal masks.
A picture of my accidently-born-at-home sweetie on National Homebirth Day.
A little milky break for E while we were out running errands
Donuts! Everly trying out our new stroller (I’ll do a review on that soon – it’s AMAZING!!)
Everyone else declutters and organizes in January but I was adjusting to a newborn so I didn’t care then…but I’ve got the organizing bug right now!  It takes me foreverrrrr to get anything done but I feel really accomplished when I do.

Here’s one of our cabinets after I got rid of a bunch of stuff and reorganized with a few bins from TJ Maxx.
So much better!
Breakfast at Wild Eggs
Third baby: I nurse her anywhere without feeling all awkward and shy.  I’m well past that at this point plus I have two other kids who need me so I can’t just go sit in the car every time she needs to eat.  So I ate my breakfast while she ate hers ;).
The sun was in her eyes and that’s why she’s making this face, but it looks like she’s very unimpressed with something!
We took the boys to Cabela’s where they had a big pool set up stocked with fish, the boys each caught their first fish!
Hudson loved it and even held the fish, which shocked me!
Parker was a bit more timid
He wouldn’t hold the fish but he at least touched it
They also had crafts for the kids to do after they caught their fish
Church camp!!  I haven’t gotten to go the last two years because we were in Salt Lake City for Young Living’s convention but this year the weeks were different so we got to go to camp.  I helped teach the pre-camper class (a class for the kids of other camp staff who aren’t old enough to technically be campers).  The boys had a blast!

They got to eat their first ice cream cones (that was SO messy)
The camp theme was legos, which of course the boys LOVED.  There was a table with hundreds of legos sitting out for the kids to play with whenever – Hudson and Parker spent a lot of time at that table!
My camp buddy.  She didn’t want ANYONE to hold her.  I’d pass her off occasionally so I could go to the bathroom or teach my class but she screamed when I did.  So I wore her most of the time.
We did not spend the night at camp (I’m not *that* crazy), so we drove back and forth each day (it’s about 45 minutes away, so not too bad).  Of course the kids needed baths each night so I took advantage of that and did a hair treatment on Everly to get rid of her cradle cap (Young Living’s Seedlings Baby Oil + a special cradle cap comb/brush I bought from Amazon)
Crazy hair.
Learning about Nehemiah and building the wall
Cradle cap treatment #2 to get the stuff I missed from the first day
My lesson for the week was on Noah.  We made these cool rainbow/Noah’s ark crafts out of paper plates (thank you, Pinterest!) and filled them with animal crackers.
Building the tower of Babel
Tower of Babel coin toss
My view for most of the week
Love these lego decorations!  I might just steal these ideas for the boys’ birthday party next year…
While we were at camp Parker finally learned how to drink out of a cup without a straw!  Yay!
Also I just have to say for my own memories later…the weather this week of church camp was INCREDIBLE.  It was very mild, in fact there were several times that I wished I had a jacket.  I can’t remember a year of church camp with such great weather since I was maybe 10 years old.  It was wonderful.

I discovered during church camp week as we drove back and forth that Hudson has developed carsickness 🤢😬. We now have a “just in case” barf bucket in the backseat and these two oils have been lifesavers and stopped any issues in their tracks 👏🏻👏🏻

I got the boys new backpacks for them to use as carry ons for our upcoming flight to SLC and also to use for our homeschool community days next year.
Michael and I had to go to Nashville to complete our TSA precheck paperwork so we made a day of it and went to the zoo too.  The weather was mild, which was so nice, and we had a great day!
The week after church camp the kids and I attended a Classical Conversations practicum.  I spent 3 days learning about CC, the classical method, and homeschooling strategies while the boys attended play camp.
Can you tell that polka dots are my favorite?!
I do not even know what has happened here🤔 but something tells me it might be time to move up a size in pajamas 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 Shopping at Target is my fave because the boys can ride in a buggy and be somewhat contained (and I wear Everly).  So much easier than trying to keep them by my side and not touching all the things!

Teaching a Young Living skincare class tonight – ✔
Baby who always wants to be held – ✔

Thankful that I’m able to combine the two ❤

Early morning snuggle bug.
Hudson and Parker both fell asleep in the car.  Parker woke up and started crying, which woke Hudson up.  Hudson plugged his ears and went back to sleep with his fingers still in his ears!  It was so funny!
We went to Mayfield to my grandparent’s for a weekend to see my cousin preform in The Wizard of Oz.  The kids had a great time with all the family members…although Hudson threw the biggest fit ever because he didn’t want to go to the play (he was scared of the unknown and, being 5, expressed that fear as a temper tantrum.  He did go and eventually even had a good time…though he wouldn’t admit it)
Breaking news…Everly finally learned to sit up on her own!  At almost 8 months old she was on the lateish end of “normal” (like, who cares though? Not me) but once she started sitting she was able to sit up for long periods of time.
This month we had VBS at church.  The theme was Superheros and I taught the baby class.
Michael had to go out of town for work during the second half of VBS.  I hate when he travels anyway but this time I had to wrangle the kids to church and back (very late) each night all by myself and that was tough!  But we made it.

(Also, stuff like that gives me so much more respect and compassion for single parents!  They’re rockstars!)
The boys of course LOVED the Superhero theme.  Each night their craft was making another piece of a costume (mask, cape, shield, and arm thingys) so by the end of the week they had a full costume.  Very cool!!
Running errands at Walmart.  Look at me, former Miss Judgy-McJudgy Pants who looked at other parents with big kids in the buggy and thought “kids shouldn’t ride in the buggy like that”

Hahahahahahahaha.

Well.  Now I understand.

Walmart doesn’t have fancy shmancy buggies like Target with seats for the boys and this was infinitely easier than trying to keep them both close to me while we shopped.  So into the buggy they went.
Car naps for everyone.
Enjoying being outside!
Hudson and Parker picked a bunch of (very not ripe) apples from our apple tree.
Making mud puddles to splash in
Parker helping put together our new Ikea shelves
And then, as if she hadn’t already had a big enough month already with learning to sit up, this girl went and grew a tooth!  I stuck my finger in her mouth one day and found that a tooth had popped through!
My FIL brought our dining room table to the house that had been stored at my mom’s and the boys had a ball helping put it together.
Pretty pretty princess
Adding essential oils to ice cream automatically negates the sugar and makes it healthy…right??  We had an oily ice cream bar that was so delicious and fun!
The hat.  The shoes.  Stahhhpppp ittttt.  So cute.
Some funnies from the boys this month:

*I walk in to straws scattered all over the kitchen floor*

Me: Parker, did you dump these straws out?
(Hudson was in the bathroom so I already knew Parker did it)
Parker: No
Me: You didn’t?! Well then who did?
P: Everly. She took off the lid and dumped them on the floor.
Me: 🤔🤔🤔

…seems legit 🤷🏻‍♀️🙄

I see Parker has now learned how to blame his siblings. Too bad he tried to blame the one that isn’t mobile yet 😂😂

I walk into the bathroom after getting Parker ready for bed to see Hudson with toothpaste all around his lips (he doesn’t brush his teeth by himself yet so he shouldn’t have had any toothpaste in his mouth yet)

Me: Why is there toothpaste on your mouth?
Hudson: I’m scared to tell you, I think you’ll be sad. Or mad.
Me: Well I might be but you need to tell me anyway.

We go back and forth with that for a bit until he finally tells me what I already figured – he’d been eating the toothpaste 🙄

I’m a mix of annoyed that he was eating toothpaste when he clearly knows that’s not ok, amused that he thinks it tastes good enough to eat, and relieved that we use a toothpaste that’s safe to eat so that I’m not having to call poison control right now 🤦🏻‍♀️

Everly Kate ❤ 8 months old

We had a big month this month! Everly started sitting up on her own and got her first tooth!

She also started going to the nursery class at church, tagged along to church camp and practicum, and went to VBS.

We had a few fussy nights while she was teething but for the most part she’s still sleeping great at night. Naps are another story – she wakes up the second I set her down so unless I can sit for a long uninterrupted amount of time (hahahahaha 😂😂 #yeahright) she doesn’t take great naps during the day.

She’s just the happiest little sweet thing ever!

And that’s a wrap for June!
