What’s up with the Kings? | March 2018 family update

Well…better late than never with our monthly family update, I guess!  Ha!  Since April is almost over and I’ll be doing another one of these in about a week I’ll keep this brief and mostly just share pictures from last month.

Family Stuff

I announced this in a separate post but our most recent big news is that we are expecting baby #3!  I spent most of March (weeks 7-10) nauseated all day every day.

The boys and I went to visit my grandmother for a few days.  The boys loved using her hearth to practice their Lads to Leaders songs!

A local church does an Easter egg hunt each year so I took the boys to that one Saturday.  They had a great time gathering eggs!
3/4 of our family came down with…something.  We strongly assume food poisoning because we had eaten out the night before; Michael and the boys all ate the same/similar meals and mine was totally different – they all got sick and I didn’t.  It was over in about 24 hours but it was so, so pitiful to see my babies sick and throwing up. I cleaned my heart out in between taking care of them.  Thank goodness for Thieves, Thieves, Thieves!  For Christmas Michael bought me a triangle (you know, like the musical instrument kind but that’s black and heavy?).  It was mostly for decoration but the boys fell in love with it and insist that we “ring the bell” before every meal.  They run and sit on the rug in the foyer and wait for me to ring the bell and call them to the table.  No idea why, we didn’t tell them to do that, but they just started and now it’s a “thing” around here.   Those buckets are supposed to be holding toys…except the toys get dumped out daily and the buckets used for other purposes… This month’s Kiwi Crate box – Parker got a painting mat and Hudson’s box was about rainbows so he made a suncatcher, rainbow pillow, and tote bag. Michael surprised me with my belated birthday gift – a Berkey water filter!  I have been wanting one for quite some time but had no idea he was getting me one so it was a total, very fun surprise! One of the things you’re supposed to do when you first get it to make sure that the filter is working correctly is to put red food coloring in the water then run it through.  That cup on the left has the red food coloring water we put in the top, the cup on the right is what came out.  Crazy! We hosted a potluck for our local oils team.  It was so fun to get together with all my members and their families and just spend time together.  I’m wouldn’t consider myself a decorator at all but I put together some flower centerpieces for the tables that I was proud of!
They looked great on my mantle too once the party was over!
Daddy and his boys!March 2018 family update Our church participates every year in Lads to Leaders.  We have gone before just to support the other kids but this was the first year that Hudson got to participate.  He “read” scripture (recited Genesis 1:1) and led a song (Trust and Obey).  He did such a great job and I was incredibly proud of him for getting up there in front of people!

Hudson

Hudson leading Trust and Obey.  I really thought he’d be scared but he walked right up there and belted it out.

How adorable is he in his little suit?!  He’s growing up so fast! I couldn’t resist taking pictures of this – Hudson was playing with his little animals one day and I looked over and realized that he had all the baby animals lined up “drinking milk” from the mommies.  So, so cute!

This month Hudson has started putting letters together to make words (for example, he can tell me that “two Os and one Z make ‘zoo’ but he can’t put them in the correct order yet every time)

Parker

Oh our little mischievous Parker!  I have a ton of pictures of him from this month!  He still isn’t talking much at all but his favorite song is Pentatonix’s “Hallelujah” and he asks to listen to “Ah-dey-do-yah” a bazillion times a day.

Hudson likes to line his animals up around this one blue circle on our carpet so they can “drink water”.  Parker likes to stand inside the blue circle and pretend to splash in the water.

Not sure how he got in here but he got in the basket and then got stuck. He climbs on everything!  No fear at all and a total monkey.  Hudson wasn’t like that at all so it’s a totally new experience for me and I never know what he’s going to get in to! Practicing his “songleading” one morning in bed.  He holds a book in his hand and waves it around.   Exercising with me (although I’ve never actually done an exercise like this…I’d break my face if I tried!) He loves to put on coats!  Michaels, his own, doesn’t matter. He was so happy to have gotten this one on himself – too bad it was completely upside down! I mean…such a cool dude. He also loves to put his shoes on, which is what he’d done here – he got his shoes and socks on but I guess didn’t feel the need for pants.

And that’s a wrap for March!
